Providing next level care
ScionHealth specialty hospitals take an interdisciplinary approach to care and rehabilitation with patients receiving daily physician visits and consults from specialists, including, but not limited to, general surgeons, pulmonologists, cardiologists, and infectious disease specialists, as needed. Our interdisciplinary care teams also include ICU nurses with training in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, wound nurses, dietitians and social workers. Our patients also typically have access to on-site services such as radiology, laboratory, pharmacy and dialysis.
Our clinical liaisons work closely with medically complex patients’ physicians and other referral sources to determine whether one of our LTACHs would be an appropriate next step for patients who may benefit from our specialized care and rehabilitation. Because treating medically complex patients is our specialty, we are well-equipped to accept stable patients from a traditional hospital even if they are still in critical condition. Prompt transition to our LTACHs can improve outcomes and patient satisfaction by reducing length of stay in and readmissions to the acute care hospital.
